Here is a quick tip on how to install the latest blender in ubuntu so that the animated titles work.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cheleb/blender-svn && sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install blender

if after this you still can not get the titles to work,you need to point openshot in the right direction, so open the shot up and under preferences point it to here

/usr/bin/blender

this should now cure it all, fingers crossed.....
